From snowboards to sofas, Scharly Design Studio uses ecologically sustainable materials to develop ergonomically forward products that are as pleasing to a discerning eye as they are to an aching back.

The Frankfort Factory chair, for instance has a large cylindrical backrest that is shaped like a boxing bag, but has the surprisingly cushy texture of memory foam. Resembling a cross between a rubber stamp and an exclamation point, the chair is simultaneously muted and exclamatory.

For those who seek olfactory pleasures in the their furniture, Scharly Design Studio is putting the final touches on the Princess Rachou, a three-legged bubblegum pink chair that diffuses a fragrant perfume promising an instant escape from reality. Also primed for the production line is the Lord Li. Part waterbed, part sofa, and part chameleon, this croissant shaped couch changes color depending on the luminosity of a room.
